Anderson Terry is a small, privately owned real estate firm, created to fill a unique niche in the real estate market. Founded by Barbara Anderson Terry in 2001, during an obviously terrible time for New York City, and therefore, start-up businesses, Anderson Realty not only survived, but went on to become a thriving concern. This is due to the unique set of attributes that Barbara Anderson Terry brings to the table.

 

Ms. Terry has over twenty years of experience in the real estate market, having started her career with the prestigious Daniel Gale Agency on the North Shore of Long Island. She then went on to work with some of the larger firms in Manhattan, namely Halstead, Sotheby’s, and Douglas Elliman. Her experience with those firms convinced her that there was a need for a refined real estate boutique, one that concentrates on satisfying the needs of clients and customers, while at the same time, encouraging a sense of community within the firm. While many companies foster a cut-throat degree of competition, and guardedness, the philosophy at Anderson Terry., encourages a spirit of teamwork and support.

 

A sales associate with Anderson Terry., enjoys an extraordinary level of trust and independence. Ms. Terry only works with people she believes will follow through on the tasks at hand, and does not require them to go though layers of bureaucracy before achieving their goals. She is always available to problem solve and lend her expertise in any situation, but does not hover, nor question every move that the associate makes.

Anderson Terry., has an ambitious long-term plan, with the expectation of opening more offices in Manhattan, and the other boroughs of New York City. There is the additional goal of forming affiliations and partnerships in major cities on an international basis. The existence of the internet, coupled with the strong friendships and contacts that Ms. Terry has cultivated over the years, allows a world wide Anderson Terry presence to be a very real possibility. As a result there is enormous potential for growth within the firm.

 

While there are plans to expand the scope of Anderson Terry with an extensive network of offices, Ms. Terry intends to keep each office quite small. This will allow her, and those who go on to become her managers, to maintain the high level of accessibility and awareness that are such an intrinsic part of our identity. She believes in nurturing and rewarding and individual’s abilities, and knows that small offices enable managers to stay in touch with all of their associates, to know how they are faring, what are their strengths, and to provide support when needed.

The firm’s motto, “Give Superlative Service on a Small Scale to a Select Few” applies not only to our clients and customers, it also hold true for her view of the people who call Anderson Terry their professional home.
